We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we use your data.

Summary: PureCheck collects only what is necessary to provide the service. We do not sell your personal data. Scan history is stored locally on your device by default. We use industry-standard security practices and comply with GDPR, CCPA, and Apple App Store requirements.
PureCheck ("we," "our," or "us") is an iOS application developed and operated by PureCheck (contact: privacy@purecheck.app). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the PureCheck mobile application ("App") and this website ("Site").
By using PureCheck, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App or Site.
To provide ingredient analysis, we query publicly available databases:
When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to these APIs to retrieve product information. Please review their privacy policies for details on their data practices.
To provide AI-powered ingredient verdicts, ingredient data (not personal data) may be sent to an AI service for analysis. We do not include any personally identifiable information in these requests. AI responses are used only to generate the in-app analysis and are not stored on third-party servers beyond the processing period.
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with data brokers.
Local storage: By default, your scan history, family profiles, and preferences are stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync features.
Cloud data: If you have a Pro account with recall alerts enabled, minimal identifiers (such as scanned product IDs and a notification token) are stored on our secure servers hosted in the European Union, protected with industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest).
Subscription data: Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. We do not have access to your payment information.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@purecheck.app. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what data we collect and request its deletion.
PureCheck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Family profile features (for tracking children's allergens) store data locally on your device only and are controlled by the parent or guardian. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at privacy@purecheck.app.
PureCheck integrates with the following third-party services:
Device-local scan data is retained until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App. If you have a Pro account, any server-side data (recall alert preferences, notification tokens) is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days after cancellation, after which it is permanently deleted.
PureCheck operates globally. If you are located outside the country where our servers are hosted, your data may be transferred internationally. When transferring data from the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email (if we have your address). The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of PureCheck after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
